Special recycling bins for food and drink cartons

Special collection recycling bins are located at some of our bring bank Local Recycling Centres across the district, so you have the opportunity to recycle even more of your household waste.

You can take your empty food and drink cartons, (such as those made by Tetra Pak,) along with your glass bottles and jars, to one of the Local Recycling Centres where the new bins have been installed.

There are 13 locations to choose from, including four supermarket sites and three main council owned car parks.  The recycling scheme will be trialled over the next 12 months, starting from June 22nd 2020, to measure the volume of cartons being collected and that the loads do not contain items that cannot be accepted nor processed by the contractor.

Working in partnership with The Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE UK) and Printwaste Recycling, when full, these bins will be emptied and the cartons baled and transported to a dedicated carton recycling facility in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
