As the new waste and recycling collections begin, we’re here to support you as everyone gets used to the changes.
We understand that mistakes can happen while people adjust. Where possible, we will still empty your bin even if something isn’t quite right. If we spot an issue, we’ll leave a coloured tag or sticker on your bin to explain what happened and help you get it right next time.
How the tagging system works
Light Blue Tag or Sticker - Bin Emptied
If you receive a light blue tag, your bin has been emptied, but we noticed something that needs correcting.
- The tag will explain what the issue was.
- Please make the suggested change before your next collection.
- If the same issue continues, your bin may not be emptied in future.
- This may apply to any of your waste or recycling bins.
Dark Blue Tag or Sticker – Bin Not Emptied
If you receive a dark blue tag, your bin has not been emptied because there was a problem that prevented collection.
This could be because:
- The contents would affect the recycling process, or
- The bin was unsafe to empty.
In this situation:
- We won’t be able to return before your next scheduled collection.
- You won’t be able to report this as a missed collection.
- Please correct the issue ready for your next collection day.
Supporting You Through the Change
We’ll be using this approach during the first couple of months to help everyone adjust to the new service. Our aim is to give you clear guidance and support so that collections run smoothly for everyone.
