Review of empty council tax properties
In support of the governments initiative to tackle the shortfall in national housing, Braintree District Council is currently undertaking a review of empty Council Tax properties.

The following steps are required when completing the form
Entering a valid property reference and a unique passcode, both of which are included in the postal canvass form sent to the address.
Selecting one of the two radio buttons to indicate if the property is now occupied or remains unoccupied.
Selecting ‘Lookup’ to ensure the property is correct (If the referencing is incorrect the customer will not be able to complete occupation or empty property details).
Please provide accurate information
Braintree District Council has a duty to maintain accurate records for Council Tax in order to ensure that allowances, discounts or relief are claimed correctly.
Please be advised that in instances where false information is knowingly provided, the authority may impose a penalty of £70, under Schedule 3 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992. Repeat offences may allow the authority to impose a penalty of £280.
