Description
There is a specific fee for each type of application.
The Planning Fees associated with Planning Applications are due to change on the 6 December 2023. Further details can be found on the Planning Portal.
You can use the Planning Portal fee calculator to work out how much you will need to pay.
In some circumstances you may be able to pay a reduced fee. You can use the national schedule of fees to find out if your application is eligible for an exemptions or concessions.
You can pay for your fee online through the Planning Portal when you submit you application.
Guidance
We cannot take a payment for your application if you have submitted online through the Planning Portal.
If you have submitted a paper application, you can pay your fee by phone, bank transfer, cheque and or invoice.
Regardless of the method you use to pay your fee, we cannot be progress your application until we receive cleared funds in our bank account.

You will need to provide:
- the planning application reference number
- your name and address
- the address of the site that the application is for
Once we have confirmed these details, you will be transferred to our secure payment line where you can pay the fee by debit or credit card.
Online banking
If you use online banking, you can pay your fee by bank transfer to:

- Account Name: Braintree District Council
- Sort Code: 30-00-02
- Account Number: 00825110
You must include the planning application number as the reference for the payment
Cheque
You can send a cheque made payable to Braintree District Council to:

By Invoice
Large developments can attract a large fee. Where this is the case, we can raise an invoice for the fee. If you would like to pay by invoice, call the Planning Validation team on 01376 552525 to arrange this.

Personal and confidential statement
We may publish any information you submit as part of your application. You must tell us if there is any information you do not want us to publish when you submit your application.
If however, we believe that this information is in the public interest, we reserve the right to publish it.
We may also decide parts of your submission are not in the public interest and may redact this information. This information may include telephone numbers, email addresses and signatures.
