Adoption of the Local Plan 2013-2033 North Essex Authorities’ Shared Strategic Section 1 Plan

By decisions at the meeting of Tendring District Full Council on Tuesday 26 January 2021, Colchester Borough Full Council on Monday 1st February and Braintree District Full Council on Monday 22 February 2021, the three authorities have all formally adopted the Local Plan 2013-2033 North Essex Authorities’ Shared Strategic Section 1 Plan (hereafter the ‘Section 1 Plan).*

Previously:

A 6 week consultation on the Proposed Main Modifications was carried out between 27th August and 5pm on Friday 9th October 2020. 

All relevant comments received during the consultation period were being considered by the Planning Inspector before the modifications were finalised.

The North Essex Authorities undertook a Technical Consultation on the Additional Sustainability Appraisal, additional evidence base documents and the suggested amendments to Section 1. The Consultation ran until 5pm on Monday 30th September 2019. All the comments received have been uploaded and can be read on the portal, and were forwarded to the Inspector for his consideration. 

The Inspector produced an Explanatory Note (IED016) to accompany the consultation. The Explanatory Note set out the context for the consultation and explained the next steps to occur in the examination.

The North Essex Authorities wrote to the Inspector on 8 October 2019 ref: NEA015 about the arrangements for the further hearing sessions. The Inspector replied on 21 October 2019 ref: IED017.

The North Essex Authorities agreed that the draft shared strategic Section 1 Plan should continue with main modifications as recommended by the Inspector in his letter of 10th December 2020 in accordance with section 20 (7C) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.

The evidence base to support the section 1 Local Plan is made up of jointly produced documents and documents related to individual local planning authorities.

Information on the section 2 examinations, which will consider individual local authority policies and allocations and will take place after the joint section 1 examination, can be found on the individual local authority websites.
