Applying for absorbent hygiene products (AHP) collection

How to apply, renew or manage your AHP service

This page explains how to apply for the AHP collection service and how applications are assessed. It also covers how to renew your registration, apply on behalf of someone else, report changes such as moving house and cancel the service if it is no longer needed. Reading this page will guide you through managing your service from start to finish.

How do I register?

You can apply for our AHP collection service using our online form.

Once you apply, we will assess your eligibility and confirm the outcome by email or letter, depending on your communication preference.

If approved, you will receive a printable or printed AHP collection calendar and an information leaflet.

Your service will begin approximately four weeks after approval to allow time for assessment and sack delivery.

There is no need to contact the Council during this period unless we request further information.

If you do not have internet access, you can contact us by calling Customer Services on 01376 552525 for assistance.

Can someone else register on behalf of the AHP user?

Yes.

Someone else such as a parent, carer, or another authorised person can apply for the AHP collection service on behalf of the AHP user, provided they have the user’s permission to do so.

Will I need to renew my registration?

Residents are required to reapply, usually every three years to continue receiving the AHP collection service.

We will notify households in writing, giving one month’s notice before renewal is due.

If a resident does not reapply, the service will be terminated.

What happens to my AHP service if I move house?

Residents must contact the council when circumstances change.

If you register for the AHP collection service and you are moving home, please let us know your new address at least 2 weeks before your move to ensure there is no break in service and allow us time to process a new permit with the correct address.

If you are unable to update us online, you can contact Customer Services on 01376 552525 for assistance.

If you are moving within the Braintree District, we will advise you if there will be a change to your collection day.

If you are moving to another home outside the Braintree district, we will cancel your registration for this service.

How do I cancel the AHP collection service?

If you no longer produce AHP waste and therefore no longer require an AHP collection service, please let us know.

If you are unable to cancel the service online, you can contact Customer Services on 01376 552525 for assistance.
