What AHP items will we collect (and not collect)
This page sets out exactly which items can and cannot be placed in AHP sacks for collection. It includes clear lists of accepted AHP items, such as nappies and continence products, as well as items that must not be included. Reading this page will help you avoid missed collections and ensure the service is used correctly.
What AHP items will we collect?
Nappies and Childcare AHP
- Nappies, nappy bags and wipes
- Training pants/pull-ups
Continence and care products
- Disposable bedpans and liners
- Incontinence pads, pants, pouches
- Colostomy/stoma bags (emptied)
- Catheter bags and tubing (emptied)
- Feeding tubes and equipment/paraphernalia
- Urine bottles (emptied)
Care-related Consumables
- Disposable gloves, wipes, aprons, tissues
- Disposable chair/bed pans and liners
- Single-use absorbent bed sheets
What items will we not collect?
- Clinical waste (needles, syringes, sharps, dressings, medical swabs)
- Business/commercial waste (childminders, nurseries, hospitals)
- Hazardous materials
- General non recyclable waste household waste or recyclables
- Period products (sanitary towels, tampons, menstrual cups)
- Textiles and soft furnishings (blankets, sheets, clothing)
- Animal waste and bedding
- Reusable nappies or washable pads
- Food waste or recyclables
- Soiled clothing
Any non-AHP items placed in AHP bags may lead to waste not being collected or the service being withdrawn.
