Your waste and recycling collections are changing from June 2026
In 2026, the Government is introducing Simpler Recycling across England. This means every council, including ours, will follow the same rules for what can be recycled at home making it easier for you to recycle and help protect the environment. This means that your collections are changing!
From June 2026, all Braintree District Council residents will be able to recycle more from your door including glass, plastic film, carrier bags, food and drinks cartons alongside much more. Collection schedules will also be changing and from June 2026, residents will receive:
BDC approved a new Household Waste Policy following the Simpler Recycling changes
All residents receive a letter letting them know the outcome of our property assessments and what new recycling receptacles will be delivered to them
Residents can request a review of their property assessments
Residents will start receiving deliveries of their new recycling receptacles
Residents will receive a second letter with further information on how to use their new collection service as well as a printed calendar for their collections
