Changes to waste collections from June 2026

The Council will be introducing two new recycling streams for residents in June 2026 – Mixed Recycling, and Paper & Card which will replace the current clear sack recycling in place within the District. This means from June 2026 residents will be able to recycle glass jars & bottles, food & drink cartons, plastic film & bags and tubes in addition to items currently collected.

Deliveries of the new recycling wheeled bins and/or boxes will begin in February 2026 and will take around 14 weeks to complete. While we can’t give exact delivery dates yet, we aim to share estimated delivery times for each area in the New Year.

Residents who received the standard waste collection service (those with space for two new wheeled recycling bins) will receive 2x 240L wheeled bins. The exact dimensions are yet to be confirmed.

For those who receive a non-standard waste collection service, for each wheeled bin that is replaced by boxes, 4 boxes will be provided to ensure the same capacity is available to households.

Residents will be able to apply for increased recycling capacity, if required. Details of this process will be shared in due course.

As part of our procurement process for the new recycling bins and boxes we are seeking to achieve a level of recycled content within the new bins. At this time, we cannot confirm the exact recycled content amount until this process has concluded.
