Changes to waste collections from June 2026

Deliveries of the new recycling wheeled bins and/or boxes will begin in February 2026 and will take around 15 weeks to complete. Residents are able to track an estimated delivery date for their new bins/boxes on our website here, or by contacting Customer Services.

Residents receiving bins will have their deliveries start in February, while those receiving boxes will have their deliveries starting in March.

Communal properties will be receiving an external food recycling bin, as well as internal kitchen caddies and liners, in the coming months. Guidance on how to use these will be part of the letters communal residents will receive in May.

Over the coming months we will be working with landlords, managing agents and residents to ensure communal properties can access the new service from June onwards.

No. Our delivery crews do not need you to be present to accept delivery of your new bins/boxes. All new receptacles will be left at your usual collection point. For those residents with assisted collections, this will be within your property boundary at your usual collection point.

If your property has a communal classification the tracker will return N/A as there are no deliveries for you at this time.

For all other properties, if you have not received your delivery and the tracker returns N/A – please get in touch here, or alternatively please call Customer Services.

We ask all residents concerned that their delivery has not yet taken place to first check the delivery tracker. Where this is not possible, residents can call Customer Services to ask for them to check on their behalf.

While some residents may experience small delays, we expect all deliveries to have taken place by the date given on the delivery tracker. If your bins or boxes have not been delivered by this date, please get in touch here.

All residents should have received their new bins/boxes by the end of May. If you have not, then please get in touch so that we can ensure you can start accessing the new service from the 1st June.

Yes, we recommend residents number their bins/boxes for ease of our crews returning receptacles to the correct area after collection.

No. Please don’t use the new bins or boxes until the new service starts in June 2026. Our current recycling facility will not accept the new materials until after June. If residents put recycling out in the new bins/boxes before then, we will be unable to collect it.

Stickers will be placed on all bins/boxes reminding residents of the start date. We will also be writing to all residents in May 2026 with details of their first collection dates as well as providing a physical collection calendar with their new schedule.

Residents who received the standard waste collection service (those with space for two new wheeled recycling bins) will receive 2× 240L wheeled bins (107cm(H) × 58cm(W) × 74cm(D) approx.)

For those who receive a non-standard waste collection service, for each wheeled bin that is replaced by boxes, 4 × 55L boxes (29cm(H) × 60cm(W) × 40cm(D) approx.) will be provided to ensure the same capacity is available to households.

Once the new service starts in June 2026, we encourage everyone to use the system for a few collections to get a sense of what works for them. After this, residents who feel they need more or less recycling capacity will be able to apply for adjustments. Full details on how to do this will be shared closer to the time.

We can only review your assessment if the criteria has been incorrectly applied. We will only supply alternative recycling containers under the specific circumstances defined in our new Household Waste and Recycling Collection Policy. To request a review, please do this through My Account, navigating to the Waste Management Portal and selecting ‘Request a review of your property classification’. Alternatively, you can call our Customer Services Team if you’re unable to complete your application or need additional support.
