When will the changes happen? |
The new waste collection service will begin in June 2026. Until then, residents should continue with their current waste collections. Ahead of the changes in June, residents will receive more information, including a printed collection calendar showing the new collection days for each property. |
The consultation explained that the new service would come into force in April 2026. Why has it now moved to June 2026? |
The start date was changed to June 2026 to avoid complications caused by bank holidays earlier in the year. This extra time also allows the Council to better communicate the changes to residents and to align the rollout with upgrades at the recycling facility. |
When will new bins and/or boxes be delivered? |
Deliveries of the new recycling wheeled bins and/or boxes will begin in February 2026 and will take around 14 weeks to complete. While we can’t give exact delivery dates yet, we aim to share estimated delivery times for each area in the New Year. |
If the service does not start until June 2026, why are bins being delivered from February onwards? |
We need to make sure every household receives their new bins before the service begins. Deliveries will start in February 2026 so that all homes are ready in time for the June launch. We’ll keep residents updated with clear information and support throughout the process. |
Could you provide an example of what my bin collection might look like after 1 June 2026? |
We will be writing to all residents before June 2026 and providing them with a paper calendar of their new collection schedule. For clarity we have included an example collection schedule below. Please note that this is not representative of your own exact collection schedule and is just an example. Week 1 Food waste ¦ grey bin ¦ garden waste Week 2 Food waste ¦ paper and card bin Week 3 Food waste ¦ garden waste Week 4 Food waste ¦ grey bin ¦ metal, plastic and glass bin Week 5 Food waste ¦ garden waste Week 6 Food waste ¦ paper and card bin Week 7 Food waste ¦ grey bin ¦ garden waste Week 8 Food waste ¦ metal, plastic and glass bin |
