Nominations for Braintree District Volunteer Awards now open

Do you know a brilliant volunteer?

Nominations are now officially open for the Braintree District Volunteer Awards.

Braintree District Council, in partnership with Community360, is encouraging residents to nominate dedicated volunteers from across the district.

Every nominee will receive a certificate and those shortlisted will be invited to an awards event to be held on Wednesday 3rd June at Braintree Arts Theatre to coincide with National Volunteers Week (1st – 7th June).

Tracy Rudling, CEO at Community360, said: “The Braintree District Volunteer Awards is our way of saying thank you to our amazing volunteers for their support and dedication. We are always humbled by the stories that come out of these awards. Here at Community360 we are delighted to be once again partnering and supporting the work of Braintree’s unsung heroes. Our volunteers are doing some truly exceptional work and fully deserve special recognition. We urge you to nominate those outstanding volunteers to receive that recognition at the awards ceremony in June.”

Councillor Frankie Ricci, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture & Tourism at Braintree District Council, said: “This is the fourth year we have been celebrating volunteers in the district through our awards. Volunteers play a vital role in our community by giving their spare time to others and making the district a better place. We are looking for all kinds of volunteers, so whether you know someone who works in a charity shop, runs a community event or sports club, fundraises or takes care of their local area we want to hear from you. There are so many different forms of volunteering and we want to recognise them all.”

There are several awards up for grabs, including: Inspirational Role Model, Long Service, Going the Extra Mile and Volunteering Group.

Residents can nominate now by filling out the form online at www.braintree.gov.uk/volunteerawards or by calling 01376 552525 to receive a paper version.

The closing date for receiving nomination forms is 5pm on Friday 1st May. Nominations will be considered by a panel of judges.

The awards are being sponsored by Millbank, Greenfields, Braintree Village and Stansted Airport.
