Trail to bring some Christmas magic to town centre

Businesses are getting in the Christmas spirit by participating in a new magical Reindeer Trail taking place in Braintree town centre.

Following the success of the Witchcraft and Wizardry Trail held in the summer, Braintree District Council and 26 local businesses have created a free reindeer trail which follows the story that Father Christmas’ reindeer have gone missing while shopping for presents in the town and needs the help of children and families to find them in time for Christmas.

Participants will go on a journey through Braintree Town to find the 26 reindeers hiding in shops and window displays. Once they have completed the trail, each person will receive a certificate of thanks from Father Christmas and be entered into a prize draw to win a festive hamper and a chance to help switch on Braintree’s Christmas lights.

Trail maps can be picked up free of charge at Braintree Town Hall or download via the Council’s website (www.braintree.gov.uk/reindeertrail) from Saturday 4th November. Entries must be returned to the Town Hall by 5pm on Friday 15th December to be eligible.

Councillor Tom Cunningham, Cabinet Member for Economic Development at Braintree District Council, said: “This trail is just one of the many exciting events taking place in the town in the lead up to Christmas. I’m delighted that local businesses have jumped on board to take part which will bring many visitors into the town. If you are looking for fun activities to do this Christmas with your family, children or youngsters, then this is the perfect way to get into the festive spirit.”
