Preparing to move out of the property

This page explains what private renters should do to prepare for moving out and handing the property back to the landlord. Taking time to prepare can help avoid disputes later.

  • Returning the property

You are expected to return the property in a reasonably clean condition, taking into account fair wear and tear. This does not mean restoring the property to a brand‑new condition.
