J9 is a support network for domestic abuse victims.
In 2003, her estranged husband, killed Janine Mundy while he was on police bail. Her family and the local police in Cambourne, Cornwall, where she lived, started J9 in her memory.
The aims of J9 are to raise awareness of domestic abuse and help victims find the support they need.
Displaying the pink J9 heart tells victims that you are part of the scheme. It tells victims that they can:
- get support and advice
- get help to find a safe place
- find out more information
- use a telephone
J9 Training
Epping Forest District Council started J9 in Essex in 2013. Along with most councils in Essex, we have signed up be part of and promote J9.
We are looking for local businesses to be part of J9 to help victims to find the support they need.
To take part in the scheme, you can sign up for a free half day training session run by Safer Places.
The training is for staff and volunteers across all sectors who may come into contact with victims of domestic abuse. It seeks to equip them to respond appropriately and effectively and guide victims to find help and support.
After your training, you will:
- get a full J9 information pack
- get a J9 logo to display so that victims know they can ask for help
- receive regular newsletters and updates
- get badges and lanyards for visiting staff
