Community right to bid scheme
The Localism Act 2011 introduced the community right to bid scheme to give local communities:
- early warning of the sale of land and buildings that we have identified as having community value
- the opportunity to bid to buy them
We have to maintain a list of buildings and land in our district which we consider to be of community value. Communities can nominate land that we will include on this list.
Assets of community value
We will consider buildings or land to be assets of community value if they meet the criteria in the Localism Act 2011.
An asset can be owned publically or privately, and could be, for example:
- a local shop
- a pub
- a community centre
- a library
- a park
- an open space
