Street markets
The successful monthly Street Market is for local residents and visitors near and far who come together to discover a variety of street food from the latest tasty Beigels and Thai food to chutneys, pickles, cheeses and sweet treats. Come and taste some of the finest beers, spirits and wines in the area or have a drink at the bar or browse the many different gift stalls, clothing and craft stalls.
We always like to hear from new traders that would like to join our Braintree market community. Are you a ‘small crafter or maker’? Do you have something unique to sell? Do you live within Braintree District? Are you rurally located? We’re looking for enthusiastic new traders and businesses to trade with us. So, if you think you fit the bill, we’d love for you to join us. If you are interested in trialling one of our monthly street market dates, drop us an email and get in touch! We have a limited amount of BDC pop up stalls, that are perfect for those that would like to have a go at trading directly on the high street!

To apply you will need:
- your name, address and contact details
- your email address
- measurements for your stall in meters
- your electricity requirements including:
- all electric appliances and maximum wattage, and copies of PAT test certificates
- a copy of your gas safety certificates for any gas appliances
- a copy of your health and safety policy
- a copy of your completed risk assessment including references to Covid 19 if applicable or method statement
- a copy of your public liability insurance certificate. You will be unable to complete the online form without this documentation This is mandatory for all traders to trade with us, and must be a minimum of £5 Million indemnity cover.
- Food Traders please allow 28 days for our Environmental Team to process Food Stall Assessment form. This applies to all new and existing traders on a yearly basis. Once the booking form has been completed, you will be directed via the web site.
- any other Traders, please allow a minimum of 14 days to process booking forms.
You must also read our terms and conditions, as you will have to accept these before you submit your application.

Street Market traders are encouraged to prepay for their pitch fee in advance of the market via our Cashiers Team. Full details on how to pay, will be given to traders once trader application has been accepted.
*In the event the market is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstance, or due to National Restrictions those who have paid in advance will be offered a full refund or have the option of moving the fee to another date booked.
