Pedestrianisation of Braintree town centre

Parking

Manor Street, Victoria Street and Fairfield Road now have a Restricted Parking Zone.

This means road users are only permitted to park where there is a designated marked and signed bay. If there is no designated bay you should not park there.

This restriction also applies to blue badge holders and motorists.

A restricted Parking Zone does not have any double yellow lines within it which aims to improve the look and feel streets, in accordance with Traffic Signs and General Regulations and Directions.

This was introduced as a simpler parking arrangement for a conservation area so it is easier to maintain and enforce and reduces clutter from the streets as much as possible.

Parking on Drury Lane has been in a Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ) for over three months since we completed the new disabled bays at Bank Street, also with effect from the designated sign at Swan Side.

Signage is up in these areas to help reinforce the restrictions and traffic regulation order.

Details can be found on both the Essex Highways website and Essex County Council Traffic Orders website.
