About the scheme
We have transformed Braintree town centre to create a safer, flexible, traffic-free and more attractive town centre space to encourage people to visit and use.
The pedestrian area restricts access for most of Braintree town centre from:
- The top of the High Street (near entrance to Sandpit Lane)
- Great Square
- Market Place
Access is maintained at all times for emergency services, emergency utility works and refuse collection vehicles only.
There is also a restricted parking zone at Manor Street, Victoria Street and Fairfield Road. Visit our parking web page for details of the arrangements.
