The village of Silver End was founded between 1926 and 1932 as a garden village. It holds an important place in the history of modern architecture and planning.
However, over the years unsympathetic alterations and extensions. have eroded the character and appearance of the village.
So in 1983, we introduced an Article 4 Direction for the Silver End Conservation Area.
The Article 4 Direction:
- removes some of the permitted development rights for properties in the area
- means that you need planning permission for the work
You can use our interactive map to check if the Article 4 Direction covers your property.
You can read the Silver End Conservation Guide which sets out the full list of work that needs planning permission.
Our validation checklist helps you understand what documents you need to submit when you apply for planning permission.
