One way system to be implemented around the Manor Street redevelopment

"Implementing this one way system is important because we need to allow the traffic enough room to safely navigate past pedestrians and workers working on the construction site."

Braintree District Council announces that from Monday, 2nd March, Manor Street will become one way, Westbound, into the town.  Drivers will then travel around the Town Hall leading into Victoria Street and the existing one way Eastbound out of the town.  There will be no access into Manor Street from Fairfield Road.

There will also be no on-street parking outside the Museum.

The erection of the hoardings and the extension of the public footpath into the road and the locations of the new temporary bus stops make the introduction of this single lane necessary.

A Braintree District Council spokesman said: “Implementing this one way system is important because we need to allow the traffic enough room to safely navigate past pedestrians and workers working on the construction site.  We would like to thank residents and business for their patience and support as this change begins.”

The one way will be in place for the duration of the build project which is expected to be complete late Autumn 2021.
