Visit Braintree District has officially launched their exciting new tourism website, designed to promote the area as a key destination to attract visitors from outside of the district.

The website, launched by Braintree District Council, brings together the abundance of attractions, landmarks, businesses and events the district has to offer. It focuses on some of the district’s unique selling points for visitors, from museums, shopping centres, parks and steamed railways to name a few, but also the wealth of things to do including local events, food and drink offerings, where to stay and more.

Councillor Frankie Ricci, Cabinet Member for Communities Culture and Tourism, said: “We are very lucky to have a district that is rich in history and culture and there’s a lot to shout about, from museums celebrating our heritage, our vibrant market towns and villages, and our abundance of visitor attractions. Tourism brings over £205million into our local economy every year and provides over 3,300 jobs, so we believe there are opportunities to increase tourism by working with our partners, and this website is the start to showcase the Braintree district as a key tourist destination in the East of England.”

You can visit the website at www.visitbraintreedistrict.com.

A dedicated Facebook and Instagram page has also been created to promote what’s on offer in the district. Residents, visitors and businesses are being encouraged to follow the pages to keep updated with local news, events, offers and competitions, and also share their own experiences using #VisitBraintreeDistrict on Instagram.

To celebrate the launch, people who follow the pages will also be in for a chance to win some great prizes from popular visitor attractions.

Local event organisers are able to upload their own listings for free on the website by visiting https://www.visitbraintreedistrict.co.uk/whats-on/submit-event. Local businesses including restaurants, attractions, shops and cafes are also being encouraged to get in touch to list their business on the website by emailing [email protected].
