Your rights and your personal data

You have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

The right to access personal data we hold on you

You can request this at any time including:

  • why we have that personal data
  • who has access to the personal data
  • where we got the personal data from

You can make this request by email to DPO@braintree.gov.uk

Once we have received your request, we will reply within one month.

We don't charge for your first request. We will charge an administration fee for

  • further requests for the same personal information
  • excessive requests but additional requests for the same personal information or requests that are excessive may be subject to an administration fee

The right to correct and update the personal data we hold on you

You can email us to tell us if any of the personal data we hold on you is out of date, incomplete or incorrect.

The right to have your personal data erased

You can email us to ask us to erase the personal data we hold if you feel

  • we should no longer be using your personal data
  • we are using your personal data, unlawfully

We will contact you to let you know if we are able to erase your personal data.

We may not be able to erase your personal data if we need it to comply with a legal obligation, but we will explain this.

The right to object to processing of your personal data or to restrict it to certain purposes only

You can email us asking us to stop processing your personal data or to ask us to restrict the processing.

We will contact you to let you know if we are able to stop or restrict the processing of your personal data.

We may not be able to stop or restrict the processing of your personal data if we need it to comply with a legal obligation, but we will explain this.

The right to data portability

You can email us asking us to transfer your data to another controller.

Where we can, we will comply with your request within one month.

The right to withdraw consent

You can contact us to withdraw your consent to the processing of personal data. It doesn’t matter if you gave your consent online, by email or in writing.

We may not be able to stop processing your personal data if we need it to comply with a legal obligation, but we will explain this.

We will ask you to provide proof of your identity when you contact us to exercise any of these rights.

You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you

  • are not satisfied with our response
  • believe we are not processing your personal data in line with the law
