Our equality action plan 2018-19

The Equality Act 2010 imposes the following General Duties on Local Authorities to:

  1. Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation
  2. Advance equality of opportunity
  3. Foster good relations

It covers people who share the ‘protected characteristics’ of age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race,
religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

1 Work with partners across the community to raise awareness and reduce the impact of social isolation and loneliness 2,3 All
2 Understand the range of services available to improve mental health and support early interventions for those residents with mental health issues, identifying any areas for improvement 1,2,3 All
3 Promote high speed and reliable broadband across the district through the support of Phase 4 of the Superfast Essex rollout 2 All
4 Develop our online booking and payment systems enabling residents to book and pay for more services through our website 1,2 All
