What happens is you are successful?

If your application is successful, you will receive a letter from Braintree District Council confirming the funding offer along with any terms and conditions. You will also receive a Grant Agreement which you need to sign and return along with your organisation’s bank details.

Depending on the nature of the project and the organisation, payment will be made in advance. This will only be processed once the signed and completed Grant Agreement has been received.

Please note that it will take approximately 3 weeks to process your grant payment, following receipt of your signed grant funding agreement.

If your final costs are less than originally estimated, the activities are not delivered as agreed in the Grant Agreement, or any of the grant terms and conditions are not met, Braintree District Council reserve the right to request full repayment or any unspent/unused grant monies to be returned.

Buildings

Community Infrastructure projects must be open and accessible for the local community and as such the building or site should be open and accessible to the public.

We cannot fund community infrastructure projects without permission from the premises landlord or owner. If you are not the landlord or owner, Braintree District Council will need proof of permission to use the site from them before the funds can be released.

If the building is listed or in a conservation area, the appropriate planning permissions must be sought. Please be advised that any works to the building may require building regulation approval. Where appropriate, upon completion of works, please submit evidence of building regulations approval.

We encourage all projects to support Braintree District Council’s Climate Change Strategy, therefore we would like to support all groups to develop their project in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. We can offer help and support with this if required.

It is important that any works carried out on the land are done so safely. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have completed all necessary checks to ensure that there are no hazards which could cause injury or impact on the use of the building. This includes identifying whether there are any structural issues, utilities, fire or trip hazards. Please ensure a Competent person has signed off any of the above issues.

Groups will need to have the relevant insurances in place (such as Public Liability Insurance) ahead of any works being completed.

Successful applications will need to ensure that a health and safety risk assessment is completed before any works commence and to ensure that any risks are mitigated against. Braintree District Council cannot be held responsible or liable for any damage or injury arising from projects funded by this scheme.
