Local Plan - your questions answered

Consultation

What is this Regulation 18 consultation about?

Back in 2023, we undertook a first round of engagement with the local community to gather information that would help us develop a first draft of the new Local Plan.

Now, we’ve prepared this draft Local Plan that sets out a proposed vision for the future of the Braintree district and the policies that will guide development over the next 15 years.

This consultation is your chance to tell us whether we’ve got it right and whether the priorities, policies and proposals reflect what matters most to you and your community.

We’re asking for feedback on the draft document and the evidence base.

Regulation 18 is the stage where the Council is still shaping the plan. Any new site submissions which are submitted at this stage will be assessed before the Council confirms its allocations for the Regulation 19 draft plan.

The consultation runs from Tuesday 3 March to 5pm on Friday 17 April 2026.

What difference will my comments make?

Your feedback matters. All comments will be reviewed and used to improve the plan before the next round of consultation in Summer 2026. A consultation statement will be produced which summarises comments received and how they have been taken on board in the Local Plan.
