Following the recent opening of four dual electric charging points located in White Horse Lane Car Park, Braintree District Council’s latest installation is at Newlands Drive Car Park, Witham.

Providing yet another four x7kW dual outlet Fast Charger over eight parking bays, these new additions bring easy access to electric charging infrastructure in the middle of the town centre where people can charge their vehicles.

Utilising funds of £129k from The Office for Low Emission Vehicles, (OLEV), granted to Braintree District Council to install charging points across the district, in partnership with ‘bp pulse’ and UK Power Networks, a sum of £30k has been invested in the Newlands Drive location.

Cllr. Wendy Schmitt, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “I’m really pleased that as a Council we can contribute towards a sustainable way of travel today, to help our planet tomorrow.  We will continue to work with government, the private sector, partners and stakeholders, to look towards a better future, doing our part now to help tackle climate change which will impact on everyone’s future.”

This latest addition will be the eighth electric charging point site located in Council owned car parks in the Braintree District, providing three locations in Witham for drivers to choose from.

Cllr Wendy Schmitt, Cabinet Member for Environment, added: “Keep your eyes peeled for our next installation!”
