Job Purpose

Working in a small team, the Performance and Information Assistant will support the day to day activities of the team including, processing Freedom of Information requests, provide technical support for our performance management system, providing regular performance information, ensuring published information is regularly updated, as well as keeping staff updated on key policy developments.

Principal Accountabilities

  • To assist in the process of logging, monitoring and responding to FOI and EIR requests across the Council ensuring they are completed within the required timeframes
  • To assist in meeting the training requirements for FOI and EIR’s across services.
  • To support services on the information required to be published under the Transparency Code in accordance with Transparency legislation 
  • To update and maintain the publication of information on our website in all areas the team deals with such as FOI’s, Transparency Code, Ward Profiles, District Statistics and Performance
  • To process and co-ordinate benchmarking requests from other Authorities, liaising with services to gather the information required and responding in a timely manner
  • To assist with the administration of the performance management system as well as regular housekeeping of the system to ensure it remains up to date
  • To assist staff with queries relating to our performance management system and assisting with training of new users when required.
  • To research key district statistics, contributing towards the information required to build a profile of the district.
  • To forward on policy information received to the relevant managers and members to ensure they are informed of key policy developments.
  • Arrange and schedule team meetings, logging and circulating actions
  • To support the futures/horizon scanning function identifying changes to strategy, legislation, policy and guidance,
  • To assist in the production of monthly reports to Corporate Management Team

  • Any other associated duties detailed by Head of Service or their representative.
  • To advise Line manager if, at any time, the above duties and responsibilities cannot be performed.
  • Any other duties as required to support the business, including maintaining business continuity and during civil emergencies.
  • To apply and actively promote the principles of the Council’s Safeguarding Procedure in all areas of employment and service delivery.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience of working in the public sector
  • Experience in a similar role or administrative support.
  • Experience of dealing with FOI/EIR requests is desirable

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge and a good understanding of Microsoft Office 365 packages to produce relevant management information
  • Knowledge of FOI/EIR legislation
  • Good attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Good research skills
  • Flexibility and the ability to prioritise in order to deal with conflicting demands and unpredictable ad-hoc information requests
  • Good understanding of Information Management
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with staff at all levels
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills including managing multiple pieces of work concurrently and meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own
