Applying for a job

You can only apply for jobs we have advertised on our website. We do not accept speculative applications or CVs.

If you want to apply for more than one job, you will need to complete and submit an application for each one. This is because your supporting statements on your application form will need to be specific to each role.

However, our system will keep most of the information you enter within your user account and this will appear automatically when you login.

You should read through these notes before you make your application.

Setting up an account

Before you can apply for a job with us, you have to set up an account on iTrent, our recruitment system.

Register on iTrent

Once you have created your account, you can then apply for jobs. You can complete your application in stages, saving your details as you go, if you prefer.

You can use your existing account if you have applied for a job with us before.

If you forget your password, you can use the forgotten password link to reset it.

Making your application

We will assess your application to see how closely you meet the knowledge, skills and experience needed for the job. It is important that you show, by giving examples, how you meet the essential and desirable criteria detailed in the job role.

You can read about our values, which show what values and behaviours we expect to see from our staff.

Some information in your application is mandatory. We have marked these fields on the application form with a red star.

When you have completed all sections of the application form, the submit button will be available. You must submit your application to apply for the job.

We will send you an acknowledgment email when we receive your application.

If you do not receive our acknowledgment email, check your junk or spam email folders.

If you still have not received an acknowledgment, it may mean that you have not successfully submitted your application.

You can contact our Human Resources team if you have submitted your application and not received an acknowledgment.

We will notify you after the closing date if your application has been unsuccessful. This could take a couple of weeks, depending on how long it takes for us to complete the shortlist.

Information for applicants with disabilities

We are a Disability Confident Committed employer. We are committed to positive steps to attract, recruit, retain and develop disabled employees. As part of this commitment we operate a guaranteed interview scheme for disabled applicants. Applicants who wish to be considered under this scheme will be evaluated against the essential criteria for the job and those who meet the essential criteria will be invited for interview.

Please ensure that you complete the Disability Confident section of the application form so that we can treat your application appropriately. If you are invited for interview you will be asked if you need any adjustments to the interview process, which we will make wherever possible.

You can contact our Human Resources team if you have a disability which makes it difficult for you to apply online.

Disability Confident is a government scheme designed to encourage employers to recruit and retain disabled people and those with health conditions. It is voluntary and has been developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives.

Interviews

We will base the shortlist solely on the information you have provided in your application. To give yourself the best opportunity, you must make sure that you provide enough evidence of how you meet the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the job.

Arranging your interview

If we shortlist you, we will contact you by email to invite you to come for an interview.

We usually include interview dates in the job advert. Where possible, we try to give one week's notice of the interview date. It is not usually possible to offer an alternative interview date.

You must let us know as soon as possible if you cannot attend the interview.

At the interview

At least two people will carry out your interview.

If we ask you to give a presentation or take a test, we will give you full details when we invite you for your interview.

After the interview

We will let you know as soon as possible after your interview if  you have been successful or unsuccessful.
