Cycle Storage Grant Scheme

Applications for this scheme is now open.

About the grant

We are offering capital grants to businesses willing to invest in on-site cycle storage facilities.

We are launching this scheme to reduce congestion and ease the parking issues on some of our key industrial areas.

What help is available

Grants of up to £2,000 are available to 30 businesses willing to buy and install cycle storage facilities at their workplaces.

We will consider joint applications from two or more businesses, to enable a larger cycle storage facility to install between premises.

Which businesses are eligible

We will accept applications from small and medium sized businesses (with fewer than 250 employees) as long as it is based on one of the industrial estates in our district.

Your business must be an independent business and not part of a large corporation.

The businesses in the industrial areas that we will prioritise are:

Braintree

  • Springwood Industrial Estate
  • Lakes Industrial Park
  • Lynderswood
  • Skitts Hill Industrial Estate

Earls Colne

  • Earls Colne Business Park

Great Yeldham

  • Hunnable Industrial Estate

Halstead

  • Bluebridge Industrial Estate
  • Swanbridge Industrial Park
  • Waterside Business Park
  • Swan Vale Industrial Estate
  • Rosewood Business Park

Aim of the scheme

We want to increase the number of journeys people make by bike to reduce emissions and congestion, tackle the issues associated with climate change and ease the pressure on parking.

Application for this grant

You must complete and return an application form.

Businesses may submit a joint application.

You will need to submit quotes for the storage and installation of the facility with the application. We will also need baseline data on the mode of transport employees currently use to get to work.

You can email economicd@braintree.gov.uk to ask for an application form.

Please fill-out your form in full, scan or take a photograph of it before emailing it back to economicd@braintree.gov.uk

Assessing your application

We will assess your application based on:

  • your businesses location
  • number of employees to benefit
  • aspirations to incorporate a green design
  • cost of the design
  • whether you are a member of the cycle to work scheme.

If you are unable to complete the form or are unsure if your business is eligible, please email economicd@braintree.gov.uk for help, support and advice.
