About the hearing
The Planning Inspectorate has received an appeal against an application for planning permission relating to a site at Land South of Springfields, Braintree, CM77 6TB.
The appeal is against the Council’s refusal of outline planning permission, with all matters reserved, except access, for the erection of 74 affordable residential dwellings.
The Secretary of State has appointed a Planning Inspector.
The hearing will start at 10:00am on 23 April 2024 to determine this appeal. The appeal will also likely be heard on 24 April 2024, however arrangements will be confirmed during the opening.

Participation is at the Planning Inspector’s discretion.
Joining the hearing
Before deciding whether to take an active part in the hearing, you need to think carefully about the points you wish to make.
All representations sent during the assessment of the planning application and appeal stage will be taken into account by the Inspector and re-stating the same points won’t add any additional weight to them.
If you feel that taking part in the Hearing is right for you in whatever capacity, you can participate in a number of ways.
If you just wish to observe the event, you can do so:
- in person by visiting the Council’s Offices
If you would like to participate in the Hearing, for example to give your views, you can do this too.
In order to participate, you will need to visit the Council Offices and be present during the event.

If you want to take an active part but feel unable to for any reason, and/or the points you want to make are not covered in the evidence of others, consider whether someone else could raise them on your behalf.
