Braintree Town Hall shortlisted for Essex Wedding Award

Braintree Town Hall

Braintree Town Hall has been shortlisted as a finalist for this year’s Essex Wedding Awards, in the category celebrating historic wedding venues.

The awards shine a light on the best in the wedding industry and have been recognising talented businesses from across the county for the past 15 years.

Located in the centre of Braintree, the iconic Town Hall was gifted to the town by William Julien Courtauld and designed by renowned architect Emanuel Vincent Harris. Dating back to the 1920s, the building boasts a striking clock tower and retains many of its original features, including wood panelling, murals and stained-glass windows.

With many of these historic features still preserved, the council-owned venue offers an elegant and memorable setting for weddings.

Councillor Toby Williams, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Wellbeing at Braintree District Council, said: “We are delighted that Braintree Town Hall has been named a finalist in this year’s Essex Wedding Awards. The building is one of the district’s most treasured landmarks and offers a beautiful setting steeped in history and character. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our team, who work hard to ensure every couple enjoys a memorable and special day.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Chelmsford Racecourse on Thursday, 19 November 2026.
