Braintree District Council is appealing for information after a large quantity of waste was illegally dumped in Elm Road, Feering.
Following a report from a resident on Monday 19 October, officers from the council’s Street Scene Protection Team attended the site the same day to begin investigations. The fly-tipped waste was then removed by the Street Cleansing Team the following day.
The council is urging anyone who may know who was responsible, recognise any of the dumped items, or have information about where the waste came from to come forward.
Councillor Peter Schwier, Cabinet Member for Operations and Pride in Place at Braintree District Council said: "We investigate every report of fly-tipping and will take enforcement action wherever possible. Fly-tipping damages our environment and has a real impact on local communities. We would encourage anyone with information about this incident to contact us.
"We also remind residents of their Duty of Care when arranging for waste to be removed from their property. Always check that anyone taking your waste is authorised to do so and will dispose of it legally. Ask to see their Waste Carrier's Licence, keep a record of the vehicle registration number, and retain a receipt or waste transfer note."
The council continues to take a proactive approach to tackling fly-tipping, investigating all reports, removing waste promptly and using CCTV at known hotspots to help identify offenders.
Anyone with information can email Streetscene.enforcement@braintree.gov.uk or call their Customer Service Centre on 01376 552525. Dash-cam footage, CCTV and photographs are welcome and all information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.
