Braintree District businesses invited to free cyber security events

Braintree District Council is hosting two free cyber security events this October as part of Cyber Security Awareness Month.

Designed to help small and medium-sized businesses strengthen their cyber resilience, the events include a practical cyber security workshop and a one-to-one consultation with a cyber security expert.

The events will take place at Causeway House, Bocking End, Braintree, on Wednesday 21 October and Tuesday 13 October, respectively.

Attendees will gain an insight into the latest scams, phishing emails and online fraud risks, and explore practical steps to protect their data, finances and reputation.

The 30-minute consultations will be delivered by a National Cyber Security Centre Assured Cyber Advisor, while the workshop will be hosted by the Cyber Resilience Centre for the East and Essex Police.

Businesses interested in taking part can reserve a place at www.braintree.gov.uk/businessbriefings

Cllr Justin Wrench, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth at Braintree District Council, said: “Cybercrime is an increasing threat to businesses of all sizes and small businesses are often the most vulnerable. These sessions will give businesses access to trusted experts and practical guidance to help keep their data, finances and operations safe. I would encourage any business owner who wants to strengthen their cyber security to take advantage of this opportunity.”
