Annual councillor community grants are doubled to £3,000 and extra Pride in Neighbourhood days confirmed as OUR Braintree District, a campaign to promote the best of the district, launches

The people, places and opportunities that make Braintree district stand out in Essex and beyond will take pride of place in a new campaign.

By shining a light on everyday heroes, showcasing the businesses that call here home and reminding people of the beauty on our doorsteps, OUR Braintree District will showcase the best this part of Essex has to offer.

“Across our towns and villages, we have so much to be proud of,” said Cllr Tom Cunningham, Leader of Braintree District Council.

"This is a district with strong communities, a rich history and an exciting future. Here at Braintree District Council, we think the efforts of those making a difference in our communities deserve to be championed.”

A dedicated area of the Council's website will serve as a focal point for the campaign, bringing together the district’s attractions, ongoing initiatives, and feel-good stories in one place.

OUR Braintree District will also increase annual community grants available to each councillor to £3,000, bring additional events to the district and build on successful initiatives already taking place.

Also confirmed is an extension to the popular Pride in Neighbourhood days, which bring the Council and partner agencies together for targeted days of maintenance and improvement work across the district.

“I’m delighted to say we will be announcing a number of free events across the district in the coming months and doubling the community grants we give to every councillor for causes close to their heart,” continued Cllr Cunningham.

"We're also looking at how we can build on existing successes, such as our markets, and provide even greater support for the events and initiatives that bring people together.

“There’s a lot happening across the Braintree district, and this new campaign will show why here is such a brilliant place to live, work and visit.”
