Freedom Leisure and Braintree District Council are inviting families across the Braintree district to make use of free family swimming sessions taking place throughout August at three swimming pools

The initiative aims to encourage families to stay active, have fun together and make the most of the school holidays by providing free access to swimming sessions at Braintree Swimming and Fitness, Halstead Leisure Centre and Witham Leisure Centre, run by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Braintree District Council. The free sessions also form part of the council's and Freedom Leisure’s ongoing commitment to supporting residents with the cost of living, helping families access affordable activities and reduce the financial pressures that can come with keeping children entertained during the summer holidays.

In addition to the free family swimming sessions, leisure centres will be offering a range of activities throughout the summer holidays for children of all ages, including inflatables, and fun and floats sessions. There will also be £1 badminton, table tennis, squash and track sessions at selected centres across the Braintree district this summer, offering children and families even more affordable ways to stay active.

Councillor Toby Williams, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Wellbeing at Braintree District Council said:

"We're delighted to be working with Freedom Leisure to offer free family swimming sessions throughout August. Swimming is a fantastic activity that brings people together, promotes healthy lifestyles and provides a fun and affordable way for families to spend time together during the school holidays. We know the summer holidays can place additional pressure on household budgets, so we're pleased to be able to support families with free and low-cost activities that help children stay active, healthy and entertained. We hope as many residents as possible take advantage of this opportunity."

Jon Richardson, Area Manager at Freedom Leisure said:

"We are proud to support local families by providing free access to swimming this summer. Our pools offer a safe and welcoming environment for people of all ages and abilities, and we look forward to welcoming residents from across the district throughout August."

Residents are encouraged to check session times and availability with their local Leisure centre before attending.

For more information, visit your local leisure centre, go to www.freedom-leisure.co.uk or check the Freedom Leisure app. All free swimming sessions will show as ‘free’ on the app.
