Residents are being asked to put their bins or boxes out by 6am on their usual collection day this week.

To help protect the welfare of the council’s waste and recycling collection crews, as a result of the Extreme Heat Warning issued by the Met office this week, waste collections will start earlier than usual to give crews the opportunity to complete their rounds before the hottest part of the day.

Residents are being asked to put their bins or boxes out by 6am on their usual collection day this week.

Councillor Peter Schwier, Cabinet Member for Operations and Pride in Place at Braintree District Council said: “The safety and welfare of our crews is always our priority, especially during periods of extreme heat. We are grateful to residents for helping us by putting their bins and boxes out by 6am on their collection day this week.

“Starting collections earlier will help our crews avoid working during the hottest part of the day while ensuring waste and recycling services can continue as planned. Thank you to everyone for your support.”

If collections are delayed, residents should leave their bins and boxes out and crews will return as soon as possible.
