A statement from our Chairman following the passing of Lord Haselhurst.
Cllr Richard van Dulken, Chairman of Braintree District Council, said: “We were deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of Lord Haselhurst.
"Before becoming a Deputy Speaker in the House of Commons, Sir Alan represented the Saffron Walden constituency as an MP for 40 years up until 2010, part of that being areas in the north of the Braintree district.
“There will be many people across the Braintree district who will have worked with Alan and his loss will be keenly felt. He will be missed, and we offer our condolences to his family and friends and all those who had the privilege of working with him.”
