Braintree District Council has recently installed new inclusive play boards at Brook Meadow, Sible Hedingham, Albert Moss, Rivenhall and Mill Chase, Halstead.

Supported by £4,950.00 in funding from the UK Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the boards have been designed to assist children with a wide range of communication needs, including those with speech or language difficulties.

This investment will ensure that local play areas are accessible, inclusive, and supportive environments for all children and their families. By encouraging positive interaction between children and caregivers, the boards will also help strengthen social inclusion within the wider community.

This initiative supports the Council’s and UKSPF’s objectives to enhance the quality, accessibility, improve health and well-being, inclusivity of outdoor recreational spaces, promoting equality of opportunity, and improving the overall play experience for families across the district.

Cllr. Tom Cunningham, Cabinet Member for Transformation, the Environment and Customer Services, and Deputy Leader at Braintree District Council, said: “The installation of these boards will provide inclusive and engaging play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities, enriching the experience for families throughout our community.

We are pleased to be delivering these improvements and creating high‑quality, welcoming spaces for children to enjoy.”
