Braintree District Council is pleased to confirm that Freedom Leisure officially began operating as the new provider of leisure services across the district on 1 September 2025.
The new three-year contract, with the option to extend for a further two years, sees Freedom Leisure managing and operating key facilities including Braintree Swim and Fitness, Witham Leisure Centre & Witham Sports Ground, Braintree Sports & Health Club, and Halstead Leisure Centre.
Freedom Leisure’s appointment supports the Council’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of residents through accessible, high-quality leisure provision.
The leisure service provider’s approach will centre on providing a high-quality service across all leisure facilities in the district, with staff dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive environment. This focus on customer care sets the tone for the high standards of service and attention that residents can expect moving forward.
