Braintree District Council welcomes the announcement from Essex County Council about the upcoming transition to a new provider for the shared e-scooter scheme in Braintree.
The current contract with operator Dott will conclude tomorrow (Wednesday,13 August). As part of this transition, e-scooters are being removed from the streets this week, with a new provider set to be announced shortly.
Since its launch in 2020, the shared e-scooter scheme has facilitated more than 3 million journeys, providing residents in Braintree, Colchester and Chelmsford with a convenient and sustainable way to travel.
Cllr Frankie Ricci, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Infrastructure at Braintree District Council, said: “The shared e-scooter scheme has been a valuable addition to our transport network, helping residents make greener travel choices and reducing reliance on cars for short journeys. While we recognise there will be a short pause in service, we’re looking forward to the next phase and remain committed to supporting innovative, sustainable transport options for our communities.”
Residents with active passes beyond Wednesday, 13 August are advised to contact Dott directly at support@ridedott.com to arrange a refund.
Braintree District Council will continue to work closely with Essex County Council to ensure a smooth transition and will share updates as soon as the new provider is confirmed.
