Last weekend the annual Livewell Bocking Blackwater 3K fun run & duck race was held the River Blackwater Nature Reserve.
The event was organised by Richard Sandford and the dedicated team at Friends of Bocking Blackwater, including Joby Humm from Braintree District Council, and was a huge success thanks to the tireless efforts of volunteers whose enthusiasm and commitment ensured everything ran smoothly. As many as 62 runners took part in the race, despite sweltering temperatures.
This year’s event proudly raised funds for Promise of Hope, a charity doing vital work to support those most in need, and thanks to the generosity of the community the charity will be able to continue its mission.
As part of the event, awards were presented in memory of Scott Gilhooly and Martyn Richardson, honouring their enduring legacy and the profound impact they had on the community.
Organiser Richard Sandford said:
"It was incredible to see the community come together like this to support a cause that truly matters. I’m very grateful to everyone who helped make this event such a success. We are already looking forward to next year’s event and building on this amazing momentum."
Cllr Justin Wrench, Chairman of Braintree District Council said:
