The event will feature employers who recruit and support services who can advise people who are neurodivergent – enabling people to find out about employment, training and support available locally.
Braintree District Council in partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and sponsored by the North Essex Economic Board (NEEB) will be hosting a jobs and wellbeing fair on Tuesday 15 July for people with both diagnosed and non-diagnosed neurodiversity.
The Spectrum Works event will feature employers who recruit and support services who can advise people who are neurodivergent – enabling people to find out about employment, training and support available locally.
Neurodivergent conditions include Autism/Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)/Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)/ Variable Attention Stimulus Trait (VAST), Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia and Tourette’s Syndrome (TS) as well as many other conditions.
The event will feature around half the stalls of a usual job fair event to allow for space and a less overwhelming environment, as well as a break out room if anybody needs space or quiet.
Stalls will include the Royal Navy, Get into Teaching and Benson Motoring among others.
Cllr Frankie Ricci, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Infrastructure at Braintree District Council, said: “Around 1 in 7 people are neurodivergent, but figures show only around 30 percent of working age people with autism are in employment. This event will provide an opportunity to find out about what opportunities and support there is available in the district and county for them.”
The event is free to attend and no booking is required, it will take place at Causeway House in the Committee Room from 10am to 1pm.
