Braintree District Council has relaunched an initiative designed to support sole traders, freelancers, solopreneurs and independent professionals.

The scheme offers free access to a fully equipped coworking space, enabling participants to work collaboratively, grow their networks and become part of a friendly local business community.

The scheme entitles eligible businesses to a free hot desk, five days a week up until the end of March 2026.

The coworking facilities are based at the Plaza Enterprise and Innovation Centre in Great Notley and include high-speed internet, free parking, bookable pods and meeting rooms and an on-site café.

The initiative has received £23,903 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is part of a wider effort to drive entrepreneurship, innovation and economic growth in local communities.

There are 20 spaces available to eligible businesses.

Cllr Frankie Ricci, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Infrastructure at Braintree District Council said: “This initiative will give self-employed businesses the space, resources and community they need to thrive. By supporting entrepreneurs and helping them connect with others, we’re creating jobs, encouraging innovation and investing in the future of our local economy. We encourage eligible businesses to take advantage of this fully funded opportunity.”

Businesses should email jeremy.taylor@braintree.gov.uk to register their interest.
