Braintree District Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Freedom Leisure as its new provider for leisure services across the district, commencing on 1 September 2025. The new contract has been awarded for three years, with a possible extension of two years.
This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for leisure facilities and programmes in the Braintree district, with Freedom Leisure bringing a wealth of experience and innovative ideas to enhance the health and wellbeing of local residents and the wider community.
The new contract will see Freedom Leisure manage and operate key leisure facilities, including Braintree Swim and Fitness, Witham Leisure Centre & Witham Sports Ground, Braintree Sports & Health Club and Halstead Leisure Centre, and deliver a diverse range of activities and programmes designed to cater to residents of all ages and abilities.
The council is confident that this new partnership will bring energy and investment to the district's leisure offer, ensuring high-quality services and encouraging participation in physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
The council also wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the outgoing leisure services provider, Fusion Lifestyle, for their years of service and dedication to the Braintree District.
