Outgoing Braintree District Council Chairman, Cllr Lyn Walters, held a ‘Chairman’s Community Showcase’ on Thursday 24 April at Braintree District Museum

Outgoing Braintree District Council Chairman, Cllr Lyn Walters, held a ‘Chairman’s Community Showcase’ on Thursday 24 April at Braintree District Museum to celebrate just some of the community groups she has met over the past year.

The free event featured community groups including Braintree Carnival, St Paul’s Church, The Wilderness Foundation, Essex County Fire and Rescue and Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.

Crufts winning retired police dog, Baloo, was also in attendance with her handler Mandy Chapman. The duo were presented with a High Sheriff Award by The High Sheriff of Essex. Julie Fosh, in recognition of their ‘great and valuable services to the community’.

The event also featured a tombola raising money for the Chairman’s chosen charity, Essex Dementia Care, raising over £250 on the day.

Braintree District Council Chairman, Cllr Lyn Walters, said: “It has been a pleasure and privilege to serve as the Chairman of Braintree District Council for a second time and meet so many wonderful community groups, businesses and charities.”
