Braintree District Council has awarded local charity, Baby Stuff Braintree, a grant of £3,500 from their £1m Cost of Living Fund.
The funding will help support the continuation of their project, which helps vulnerable residents gain access to essential baby clothing, moses baskets, cots, beddings and prams.
The charity has seen an increase in requests for essential goods due to the Cost of Living, including clothing, nappies and toiletries.
In a single year, Baby Stuff Braintree has distributed over 300 bags of items. Due to the demand for their support by local families, Baby Stuff Braintree will now be opening during the School Holidays as well as term time.
The charity is currently experiencing a drop in the volume and quality of donations due to the cost of living crisis, whilst referrals from health visitors are rising. A list of items they are in need of can be found on their website and Facebook page.
Cllr Mary Cunningham, Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, said: “Baby Stuff Braintree is providing a vital resource for families struggling with the cost of baby essentials. This funding will help them to continue the important work they are delivering.”
Baby Stuff Braintree operates from the Carousel Family Hub on Chapel Hill which provides support for 0-5 years, you do not need to be referred to access help, they provide a drop in Stay and Play session on Thursday mornings 10 to 11am.
