Braintree District Council Chairman to hold community event

Braintree District Council Chairman, Cllr Lyn Walters, is marking the end of her term by hosting a community event to highlight local organisations and community groups she has met over the past year.

Braintree District Council Chairman, Cllr Lyn Walters, is marking the end of her term by hosting a community event to highlight local organisations and community groups she has met over the past year.

The Chairman’s Community Showcase will take place at Braintree District Museum on Thursday 24 April from 10am to 1pm. No registration is necessary, people can drop in anytime during the event.

Admission is free to the event and refreshments will be provided, as well as free entry to the Museum’s ‘Toys and Games’ exhibition during the event. There will also be a Chairman’s Charity Tombola with multiple prizes up for grabs.

Organisations attending include Rethink Art & Social Group, Healthwatch Essex, Braintree Carnival, Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and many more!

The Chairman will also be welcoming an extra special guest, Baloo, an ex-police dog who now works as a wellbeing dog that attends events throughout the county as well as recently winning the Crufts Hero Dog Award 2025.

Cllr Lyn Walters, Chairman of Braintree District Council, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chairman and look forward to meeting with community groups and residents at this event to celebrate the great work being done and raise money for my chosen charity - Essex Dementia Care.”

Those attending the event can park for free at George Yard Multi Storey Car park on the top floor only between 10am and 1pm.
