Braintree District Council is delighted to announce that the Beat the Street campaign kicks off next week, on Wednesday 5 March 2025.
The free and interactive game encourages residents of all ages to walk, cycle and scoot their way to better health. Participants can earn points over a six week period by tapping special cards available at local distribution centres or via the app on "Beat Boxes" located throughout various locations in the community including Braintree, Halstead, Witham, Coggeshall, Kelvedon, Feering, Earls Colne and Silver End.
This initiative offers a wonderful chance for everyone - children, teens, families and adults - to be active, discover their local area and boost their health.
Beat the Street is supported by the Braintree District Health & Wellbeing Panel and Active Braintree Foundation, and supports the district’s Livewell Strategy 2024-28. Livewell stakeholders are committed to creating more opportunities for residents to participate in active and healthy lifestyles.
Everyone can get involved and registration is free.
Councillor Lynette Bowers-Flint, Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Wellbeing, said: "Beat the Street is here, and we're so excited to see our community get moving! Next week marks the start of a fantastic opportunity for everyone to explore their local area and get active in a fun and engaging way. Let's make next a week of healthy habits and community spirit!"
