Braintree District Council is pleased to announce they have completed the latest projects to support the ongoing refurbishment programme of local playgrounds, enhancing play opportunities for children
Playgrounds in the Braintree district including Meadowside and Clare Road, Braintree, and Brook Meadow and Oxford Meadow, Sible Hedingham have undergone refurbishment recently to provide safer, more engaging and inclusive play experiences. These upgrades include new play equipment designed to cater to children of all ages and abilities, enhancements to ensure accessibility for children with disabilities and improved safety surfacing.
A contribution of £82k was secured by Braintree District Council for the playground off Clare Road, Braintree, through a Section 106 Agreement to fund upgraded equipment and improvements at the site.
These improvements are part of the council's ongoing commitment to enhancing local communities and providing enriching opportunities for children's growth and development.
In the councils 2025-26 budget, money has been set aside to continue to deliver a programme of refurbishments to local play areas.
Councillor Tom Cunningham, Cabinet Member for Transformation, the Environment and Customer Services, and Deputy Leader said: "It's fantastic to see these improvements to our local playgrounds. These new facilities will provide fun and many opportunities for our children to play, learn and grow. By investing in our playgrounds, we aim to create vibrant and inclusive spaces that benefit the entire community.”
