Braintree District Council has celebrated its apprentices in an award ceremony aimed at shining a light on the achievements of their apprentices this National Apprenticeship Week.

Apprentices from across the council gathered to mark their completed Apprenticeships from Level 3 to Level 7. Apprenticeships can be embarked on at any age and level, providing an ideal development opportunity at any stage of a career. A Level 6 is equivalent to a degree and a Level 7 is equivalent to a Masters degree.

Certificates were presented by Cllr Kevin Bowers, Cabinet Member for Finance, Resources and Performance at Braintree District Council.

Also in attendance was Karen Kelly from the East of England Apprenticeship Ambassador Network and Gina Gardiner – author of Kick-Start Your Career and Cllr Lyn Walters, Chairman of Braintree District Council.

Penny Calder, a Level 7 Apprentice in Senior Leadership, has already completed a Level 5 Apprenticeship in Women in Leadership and gave a presentation on her apprenticeship journey.

Apprentices were also invited to get professional headshots, supplied by Carmel Jane Photography.

Cllr Kevin Bowers, Cabinet Member for Finance, Resources and Performance at Braintree District Council, said: “It was really inspiring to see what has been achieved by the apprentices at Braintree District Council at all levels and this event highlights the huge value apprenticeships can bring to employers.”
